The racing blood that courses through Max Verstappen’s veins comes from his father, the former Formula One driver Jos Verstappen, and his mother, Sophie Kumpen. Max’s journey to the pinnacle of motorsport began in the world of junior karting and single-seater categories, where he set numerous records. His impressive track record includes triumphs in KF3, WSK World Series, KZ2, and European Formula 3.
At the tender age of 17 years and 166 days, Max Verstappen made Formula One history when he stepped onto the grid at the 2015 Australian Grand Prix, becoming the youngest driver ever to compete in the sport. His initial season was spent with Scuderia Toro Rosso, but it was with Red Bull Racing that he truly ascended to greatness. In 2016, at the remarkable age of 18, he clinched victory at the Spanish Grand Prix, marking his debut for Red Bull Racing and making history as the youngest-ever Formula One Grand Prix winner and the first Dutch driver to achieve this feat.
Max Verstappen’s crowning moment arrived in 2021 when he emerged triumphant at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, becoming not only the first Dutch driver to claim the Formula One World Championship but also the 34th Formula One World Drivers’ Champion. His triumph was a testament to his unmatched skill and relentless determination.
In a breathtaking display of consistency and excellence, Verstappen went on to secure his second consecutive Formula One championship in the following season. As of the 2023 Japanese Grand Prix, his impressive tally includes 48 victories and 29 pole positions. Notably, he achieved his first hat-trick at the 2021 French Grand Prix and his first grand slam at the 2021 Austrian Grand Prix. Building on this success, he accomplished a second grand slam at the 2022 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and a third at the 2023 Spanish Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen’s commitment to Red Bull Racing remains unwavering, as he signed a contract extension that will keep him with the team until at least the end of the 2028 season.
